Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The beret
Near the top of the page, draw a wide, flat oval like a squished pancake for the hat. Add a tiny curly stem sticking up on top, and let the bottom edge dip a little in the middle.
Step 3: Floppy ears
Start just under each end of the hat and draw a big, rounded ear that swoops out and down. Stop each line near the side of the guide oval, and make both ears match.
Step 4: Fluffy sides
Starting below each ear, draw a wiggly line down the side of the body with little fluffy bumps. On the left, keep going down and curve it in at the bottom. On the right, stop partway down.
Step 5: Tail and bottom
Finish the right side of the body with a short slanted line near the bottom. Next to it, draw a tiny hook shaped like a letter C for the tail.
Step 6: Feet and toes
Along the bottom, draw short lines going up from the bottom edge to split the feet into toes. Join the ends of the right side with a curved line, so the body is closed.
Step 7: Eyes
Draw two round dots for eyes, spaced apart in the middle of the face, just below the hat.
Step 8: Nose and smile
Between the eyes, draw a tiny upside-down triangle or short line for the nose. Underneath, add two small curves that make a happy smile.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Pompompurin from Sanrio
- Draw the beret first, then start the ears right under its ends so the lines meet the hat.
- The fluffy sides of the body are the trickiest part. Make small, gentle bumps instead of sharp zigzags, and keep your hand relaxed.
- Leave a little space between the eyes and keep them small. The nose and smile sit in the middle, between and below the eyes.
