Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The glass dome
Draw a tall upside-down U shape, like a big bubble or a bell. Make the two sides go straight down and leave the bottom open for now.
Step 3: The saucer rim
At the bottom of the dome, draw a wide flat oval that sticks out past both sides, like a hat brim. Start on the left side of the dome, sweep the line around the bottom, and finish at the right side of the dome.
Step 4: The saucer opening
Draw a gentle curved line across the bottom of the dome, from the left side to the right side. This is the front edge of the saucer, where the alien sits inside.
Step 5: Head and left arm
Inside the dome, start on the right and draw a curved line over the top, like a round head. Bring it down the left side and curl it into a little arm at the bottom, near the saucer edge.
Step 6: Waving arm and body
Start at the right side of the head and draw a curvy line up to a little round hand, as if waving hello. Then bring the line down in a bumpy path to the saucer edge for the side of the body.
Step 7: Three UFO legs
Under the saucer, draw three little U shapes, like tiny feet. Make one in the middle, and one on each side tilted outward.
Step 8: Face and little details
Draw two small dots for eyes near the middle of the head, with a little curved smile between and below them. Add a short curved line by the waving hand and a tiny short line at the bottom of the left arm.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing an alien in a UFO
- Draw the dome first and make it tall, because the alien needs room to fit inside.
- The wide oval rim is the trickiest part. Make it stick out past the dome on both sides, and it will look like a saucer.
- Let the alien's body stop at the saucer edge. That makes the alien look like it is sitting inside the ship.

Alien in a UFO fun fact for kids
The words "flying saucer" came from 1947, when a pilot named Kenneth Arnold said he saw shiny objects that moved like a saucer skipping across water. Newspapers shortened that into "flying saucer."
Questions about drawing an alien in a UFO
What shapes do I need to draw an alien in a UFO?
You need a tall rounded dome, a wide flat oval, a round head with a waving arm, and three small U shapes for the legs. Two dots and a curved line make the face.
How do I make my alien look cuter?
Keep the eyes small and the smile tiny. A round, soft head and a little waving hand make it friendly.
How do I draw a UFO that looks flat and wide?
Draw the oval much wider than the dome, and let it stick out on both sides. A flatter oval looks more like a flying saucer.
