How to Draw a Space Station (Easy Step by Step)
A space station looks complicated, but this one is built from rectangles, circles and straight lines. You start with the boxy rooms in the middle, then add a dish, long arms and big solar panels on both sides. Little stars at the end make it feel like it is really floating in space.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The center module
Draw a tall rectangle with soft, rounded corners in the middle of your page. This is the main room of the station.
Step 3: The round window
Inside the center module, draw a small circle in the middle. This is the round window.
Step 4: Side modules
Draw a rounded square on the left and another on the right of the center module. Leave a small gap between each square and the center.
Step 5: Dish and connectors
On top of the center module, draw a short straight line going up, then a bowl shape like half a circle with a flat top for the dish. Then join each side module to the center with two short straight lines across the gap.
Step 6: Poles and arms
Far out on the left and right, draw a tall straight line going up and down. Then draw a short straight line from each side module across to its tall line.
Step 7: Solar panels
Around each tall line, draw a tall rectangle above the arm and another below it. That makes four big panels, two on each side.
Step 8: Panel rows and a star
Draw two short straight lines across each panel from side to side, starting with the right panels and the lower left one. Then add one tiny diamond with a smaller diamond inside, up in the empty space, for a star.
Step 9: Last rows and stars
Finish the top left panel with two short straight lines across it. Then fill the empty space with more little stars, each a small diamond with a tiny diamond inside.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a space station
- Draw the center module first and the side modules at the same height, so the whole station looks balanced.
- The solar panels are the trickiest part. Make the top two panels the same size as the bottom two, and use the tall line down the middle of each one as a guide.
- Use a ruler or the edge of a book for the long arms and panel lines if your lines feel wobbly. Straight lines make the station look strong.

How to color your space station drawing
Try silver and light gray for the modules and deep blue for the solar panels, with a dark purple or black sky behind them. For a creative twist, color the stars in different bright colors and add a small planet in the corner.
Space station fun fact for kids
The International Space Station travels around Earth about every 90 minutes, so the astronauts on board see around 16 sunrises and sunsets every day.
Questions about drawing a space station
What shapes do I need to draw a space station?
You need rectangles with rounded corners, a circle for the window, a half-circle bowl for the dish, and straight lines. The stars are just tiny diamonds.
How do I make the solar panels look even?
Draw the tall line on each side first, then make each panel the same width around it. Dividing each panel into equal rows with straight lines helps a lot.
How do I make my space station look like it is floating in space?
Add a few stars around it and color the background dark. Leaving some empty space around the station makes it look like it is drifting.
