Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Sides of the globe
Draw two curved lines that bulge outward, one on the left and one on the right, like the sides of a big round ball. Leave the top and the bottom open.
Step 3: The base box
Under the globe, draw a wide box with a flat top, straight sides and softly rounded corners at the bottom. Make it about as wide as the globe.
Step 4: Top rim and neck
Draw a gently curved line across the top of the globe, joining the two side lines. Then draw a flat line across the bottom of the globe and add two short lines down from its ends to the top of the box to make the neck.
Step 5: The lid and knob
On top of the globe, draw a small dome like a little hat, starting and ending at the ends of the top line. Add a tiny upside-down U on the very top for the knob.
Step 6: Top two gumball rows
Draw a row of three small circles near the top of the globe. Then draw a row of four small circles just below it, leaving a little space so the circles do not touch.
Step 7: Bottom gumball row
Draw one more row of three small circles near the bottom of the globe, lined up under the top row.
Step 8: Face and coin slot
On the box, draw two small filled dots for eyes with a little curved smile between them. Then draw a small circle on the lower left with a straight line across its middle for the coin slot.
Step 9: The square window
On the lower right of the box, draw a square with rounded corners. This is where the gumball comes out.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a gumball machine
- Take your time with the globe. Make both side curves bulge the same amount so the ball looks round and even.
- Draw the gumballs in rows of three, four and three. Keep them about the same size and space them out evenly.
- Draw the eyes first, then put the smile between them. If the smile feels too big, make it smaller.
