How to draw a cute monster step by step

How to Draw a Cute Monster · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The round body

Start with a big wide oval for the monster's round body. Draw it light and smooth, and leave a little room above and below.

  3. Step 3: Pointy ears

Add two pointy ears on top of the body, like little leaves or cat ears. Start each one at the top edge of the body, draw up to a tip, then curve back down.

  4. Step 4: Two little arms

Draw a small rounded bump on each side of the body, like a mitten. Start on the body edge, curve out and around, then come back to the body.

  5. Step 5: Two stubby feet

Draw two round feet at the bottom of the body, with a gap between them. Start from the bottom edge, curve down and around, then back up.

  6. Step 6: The big eye

Draw one big circle in the upper middle of the body. This monster has only one eye, so make it nice and round.

  7. Step 7: The pupil

Fill in a small round dot in the middle of the eye. Move the dot to one side if you want your monster to look sideways.

  8. Step 8: The happy mouth

Under the eye, draw a straight line across. Then curve a smile shape below it, like a bowl or a slice of watermelon.

  9. Step 9: Silly teeth

Draw two small, narrow teeth hanging down from the straight top line of the mouth, one on each side. Make them short little rectangles with rounded bottoms.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a cute monster

  • Draw the body oval lightly first. The arms, ears and feet all attach to it, so a smooth body makes everything else easier.
  • Leave a gap between the two feet. If they touch, the monster looks like it has one big foot.
  • The mouth is the trickiest part. Draw the flat top line first, then curve the smile underneath, and add the teeth last.

Questions about drawing a cute monster

What shapes do I need to draw a cute monster?

You need a big oval for the body, a circle for the eye, and small rounded curves for the arms and feet. The ears are two pointy leaf shapes and the mouth is a bowl shape with a flat top.

How do I make my monster look cuter?

Make the eye big and add a small dot for the pupil. Round, stubby arms and feet also help, and two little teeth give it a friendly smile.

Can I give my monster more eyes?

Yes. Draw two or three smaller circles in a row, or stack them in a pile. Keep the body round and the monster will still look friendly.
