How to Draw a Goat (Easy Step by Step)
A goat is a fun animal to draw because it is built from big, friendly shapes. You will draw a rounded body with a tall back leg, a pear-shaped head, two pointed horns, and pointy leaf shapes for the ear and tail. Four straight legs and little split hooves finish the goat.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Body and back leg
Draw a long curved line for the goat's back that bends down at the right into a rounded rump. Then draw the belly line back toward the left, and add the back leg on the right as a tall shape with a flat bottom.
Step 3: Head and face
On the left, draw a rounded head that is narrower at the nose, like a soft pear tipped sideways. Add a dot for the eye, a tiny dot for the nose and a short curved line for the mouth.
Step 4: The horns
On top of the head, draw two skinny pointed horns side by side, shaped like narrow leaves. Start each one on the head and draw it up to a point.
Step 5: Ear, beard and tail
Draw a pointy leaf shape for the ear on the side of the head. Add a small loop hanging under the chin for the beard, then a small pointed leaf for the tail at the right end of the body.
Step 6: Neck and other legs
Draw a long curved line from under the chin down the front of the body to make the chest and the front leg, ending with a flat bottom. Then add two short, narrow legs between the front and back legs.
Step 7: Hooves
Draw a short flat line across the bottom of each leg for the hoof. Add one tiny line up from the middle of each hoof to split it in two.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a goat
- Start with the back and body line and make it long and wide. The head and legs are easier to place when you can see the whole body.
- The four legs are the trickiest part. The back leg is drawn first, then the front leg, then the two middle legs fit in between so they do not bunch together.
- Keep the horns thin and pointed, and draw them side by side on top of the head.

How to color your goat drawing
Goats can be white, brown, black or spotted, so pick any of those and use a darker color for the horns and hooves. For a creative twist, give your goat a bright flower crown or draw it standing on a green mountain.
Goat fun fact for kids
Goats have rectangular pupils in their eyes. The wide, sideways shape gives them a very wide view of the world around them.
