A pineapple is a fun thing to draw because it is mostly one big oval with a crown of pointy leaves on top. You only need an oval, five leaf shapes, and crisscross lines that make diamonds. Add a smiley face and your pineapple becomes a friendly fruit buddy.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Most of the body
Draw a big tall oval in the middle of your paper, like an egg standing up. Leave a small gap at the top and room above it for the leaves.
Step 3: Closing the top
Draw a gentle curved line across the gap at the top of the oval, like a little hill, to close your oval. This is where the leaves will grow from.
Step 4: The tall middle leaf
Start on the top curve and draw two lines that lean toward each other and meet in a point high above the pineapple. It looks like a long, skinny tent.
Step 5: Two inner leaves
Draw a pointy leaf leaning out to the left of the tall leaf, and one leaning out to the right. Each one is a leaf shape with a sharp tip, starting from the top of the oval beside the tall leaf.
Step 6: Two outer leaves
Add one more leaf on each side, pointing out wide and a bit lower down. Start each one where the oval's shoulder is and draw a long pointy leaf shape.
Step 7: Diamonds and a smiley face
Draw short slanted lines in both directions across the oval so they cross and make diamond shapes, leaving an open space in the middle. Then add two little dot eyes and a small smile in that space.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a pineapple
- Draw the oval first and lightly. If it comes out a little wobbly, that is fine, because a real pineapple is a bit lumpy too.
- The leaves are the trickiest part. Make the tall middle leaf first, then add a leaf on each side of it, and finish with the two wide leaves at the bottom of the crown.
- For the diamonds, draw all the lines going one way first, then cross them with lines going the other way. Stop the lines before the middle so there is room for the face.

Pineapple fun fact for kids
A pineapple is not one fruit but many small fruits that grew together. The pattern on the outside comes from those little fruits.
