How to Draw an Apple (Easy Step by Step)
A smiling apple is a great first drawing because it is built from just a few simple shapes. You need one big round shape, a short stem, a pointy leaf, a little shine mark, and a tiny face. Once you can draw this one, you can turn it into a pear, a peach, or a cherry.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The apple body
Start with a big, round shape like a slightly squished circle. Make a small dip in the middle of the top and a gentle dip in the middle of the bottom, then close the shape.
Step 3: The stem
Start at the dip in the top of the apple. Draw a short, slightly wiggly line going up.
Step 4: The leaf
Near the top of the stem, draw a curved line out to the right to a pointy tip. Then curve back to the stem to make a leaf shape, like a little boat.
Step 5: The shiny spot
Near the upper left side of the apple, draw a short curved line that follows the edge. It shows where the light hits.
Step 6: The happy face
Draw two small dots for eyes in the lower middle of the apple, with space between them. Add a little smile curve between the eyes and just below them.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing an apple
- Start with a big round shape, a bit squished at the sides. Then add the dip at the top and the gentle dip at the bottom.
- Draw the stem as a short, slightly wiggly line that starts in the dip. A little bend looks more natural than a straight stick.
- Keep the shine mark short and close to the edge on the upper left. Place the eyes low and wide apart, with the smile between them.
