Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The head
Draw a big egg shape for the head, rounded at the top and a little wider near the bottom. Close it with a gently curved line for the chin.
Step 3: The big arms
Start at one side of the head and draw a huge curve out and down, ending with a small hook at the bottom. Do the same on the other side so the arms look like two big balloons.
Step 4: Belly and inner arms
Draw two short lines going down from under the head, inside the arms. Join them with a wide U-shaped curve across the bottom for the round tummy.
Step 5: The feet
At the bottom of the belly, draw two bumpy feet with little bumps for toes. Add a tiny short line on each side where the arm meets the foot.
Step 6: Ears
Draw a small round C shape on each side of the head for the ears. Let them tuck in against the head.
Step 7: The muzzle
Draw a rounded shape like a wide bowl on the lower part of the face. It starts near one side of the chin, curves up over the top, and comes back down on the other side.
Step 8: Brow, eye and nostrils
Draw a wavy line across the forehead for the eyebrow. Under it, add a round dot for the eye on one side and a tiny curved mark on the other. Then add two tiny dots inside the muzzle for the nostrils.
Step 9: The smile
Inside the muzzle, below the nostrils, draw one wide, happy curve for the smile.
Step 10: The necktie
Under the chin, draw a short flat knot. Then draw a long diamond shape hanging down from it, like a pointy kite.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Donkey Kong
- Draw the head and the chin line first, then let the arms start right at the sides of the head so everything connects.
- The big arms are the trickiest part. Make them as wide as balloons, and try to make the left and right sides about the same size.
- Draw the necktie last. Start with the small flat knot under the chin, then make a long diamond that points down.
