How to draw Woody from Toy Story step by step

How to Draw Woody From Toy Story · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The head

Draw a slightly curved line across for the forehead. From each end, curve the line down and in to make the sides of the face, and leave the bottom open.

  3. Step 3: The cowboy hat

Draw a tall hat shape above the forehead with a little dip in the top. Then add the wide curvy brim that swoops up on both sides like a smile.

  4. Step 4: The ears

Draw a small half circle on each side of the head, just under the hat brim. Make them match.

  5. Step 5: Shoulders and arms

Under the head, draw one wide rounded shape for the shoulders and arms. Start at one side of the neck, curve out and down, then wiggle a bumpy line along the bottom and up the other side.

  6. Step 6: The vest front

In the middle of the chest, draw a V shape with a straight line going down from each end of the V. Then add a short wavy line on the right side of the chest for the edge of the vest.

  7. Step 7: Star, leg and boots

Draw a little star on the right side of the chest. Below the body, draw a line down for one leg, then two flat rounded boots with a small gap between them.

  8. Step 8: Eyes and smile

Draw two round dots for eyes, spaced evenly apart in the middle of the face. Add a small curved smile below them.

  9. Step 9: Vest spots and other leg

Draw a few lumpy spots on the vest, on both sides of the V. Then add a line down from the body for the other leg, so both legs reach the boots.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Woody from Toy Story

  • Draw the head first as an open shape with a flat, curved top. Then draw the hat above it so the brim sits right on the forehead line.
  • Make the brim swoop up on both sides, and try to keep both sides about the same height so the hat looks balanced.
  • Draw the vest spots last as lumpy blobs, not perfect circles. Each one can be a different size.

What shapes do I need to draw Woody?

Start with a curved shape for the head and a tall hat shape with a wide brim. Then add a wide rounded body, a V for the vest, and two flat boots.

How do I make Woody's hat look right?

Draw the tall top part first, then add a wide brim that curves up at both ends. Make sure the brim sits on top of the forehead line.

Draw a few wobbly blobs of different sizes on the vest. They do not need to be neat, because real cow spots are uneven.
