Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Body sides
Draw two long wavy lines for the sides of the body, one on the left and one on the right. Start each with a small slope near the top, curve them down and a little outward, and finish each with a tiny curled foot at the bottom. Leave the top and the bottom middle open.
Step 3: The detective cap
Draw a rounded dome between the two sides for the hat, with a small bump in the middle of the top. Then add a long curved brim under the dome that curls up a little at both ends.
Step 4: Ears with dark tips
Draw two long pointed ears that stick out from behind the hat, one on each side, leaning outward. Fill the tip of each ear in with black.
Step 5: Eyes and nose
Draw two round eyes, wide apart below the hat. Color each one in, leaving a tiny white circle for a sparkle. Add a tiny dot for the nose between them.
Step 6: The smile
Under the nose, draw a small wavy line that goes down, up, and down again, like a tiny cat smile.
Step 7: Arms
Draw two short curved arms on the tummy, one on each side. Start each near the top, curve it down, and end with a little hook for the hand.
Step 8: Base of the tummy
At the bottom of the body, draw a gently curved line across from one foot to the other. This closes the tummy.
Step 9: The lightning tail
On the right side of the body, draw a zigzag tail like a lightning bolt. Start with a big slanted shape at the top, then step the edge in and out two or three times as you come down to the body.
All done!
