Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The big hoop
Draw a big circle in the middle of your page. Leave a tiny gap at the top, where the bow will go.
Step 3: Bow, web and strings
At the top gap, draw a little bow with two loops. Under it, draw a small six-sided ring in the middle of the hoop, then a bigger wavy six-sided shape around it, joined to the bow by two slanted lines. Below the hoop, draw three straight strings with a small circle bead on each, and make the middle string the longest.
Step 4: Side spokes
Draw one straight line from the left side of the hoop to the small center ring. Then draw one from the right side of the hoop to the center ring.
Step 5: Lower spokes
From the bottom of the center ring, draw two slanted lines going down and out, one to the left and one to the right. They end where they touch the bottom of the hoop.
Step 6: Side feathers
Under the left and right beads, draw a pointy oval for each feather. Add a straight line down the middle of each one.
Step 7: The middle feather
Under the middle bead, draw a pointy oval feather, the same shape as the side ones. It hangs on the longer middle string.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a dreamcatcher
- Draw the big hoop first and lightly, so you can fix it if it is not round.
- The web in the middle is the trickiest part. Draw the small center ring first, then the wavy shape around it.
- Make the middle string longer than the two side strings so the middle feather hangs lowest.
- For each feather, draw the pointy oval first, then add the line down the middle.

Dreamcatcher fun fact for kids
The dreamcatcher comes from the Ojibwe people. The Ojibwe word for it, asabikeshiinh, means "spider," and the web is said to catch bad dreams. Traditionally it was hung over a baby's bed.
