How to Draw a French Bulldog (Easy Step by Step)
A French bulldog is a great first dog to draw because it is mostly big, soft shapes. You will build it from two tall ears, a rounded body, short legs, and a few dots and curves for the face. The squished, serious little face is what makes it look so sweet.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head and ears
Draw two tall ears with rounded tips, joined by a short, gently curved line across the forehead. Then bring the outline of the head down on each side, with a little bump below each ear, and stop at the top of the guide oval.
Step 3: Body sides and belly
Under the head, draw a curved line down each side to make the round chest and body, following the guide oval. Add a short curve across the bottom for the belly.
Step 4: Front legs and paws
Draw two short, straight lines going down from the belly curve for the front legs. Finish each leg with a rounded paw that turns outward at the bottom.
Step 5: Back haunches
Draw a rounded hip shape on each side of the body. Finish each one with a small foot at the bottom, peeking out beside the front paws.
Step 6: The eyes
Draw two solid round dots for eyes, side by side in the middle of the face. Keep them the same size and far enough apart to leave room for a nose.
Step 7: The nose
Between the eyes and a little lower, draw a small rounded triangle with a flat top and fill it in. Add a tiny line dropping down from its bottom.
Step 8: Cheeks, mouth, and jowls
Draw a curved line on each side of the nose, down from just under each eye, for the cheeks. Connect them with a wavy jowl line across the chin, and add a small upside-down V in the middle for the mouth.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a French bulldog
- Make the two ears tall with rounded tips, and keep them about the same height so the dog looks balanced.
- The face is the trickiest part. Draw the cheek lines first, then the wavy jowl line, then the small upside-down V in the middle.
- Place the eyes wide apart with space between them for the nose. Wide-set eyes give a Frenchie its cute, serious look.
