Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The helmet
Start with a big round dome for the helmet. Close the bottom with a nearly flat line that sticks out a little in front, and add a short curved line inside near the front.
Step 3: The face
Under the front of the helmet, draw a curved line that goes down and swings to the right to make a round chin. It stops under the middle of the helmet.
Step 4: The back
Start at the bottom of the helmet on the right and draw a long curved line down and a little in for the rider's back. End with a small round blob at the bottom.
Step 5: The arm
From under the chin, draw a bendy line out to the left for the shoulder and arm. Add a second short line just below it, and let the arm end in a small hanging hand.
Step 6: The leg
Near the bottom of the body, draw a small wobbly upside-down U shape for the knee and the leg. Its two sides point down.
Step 7: The front wheel
Draw a big thick circle at the bottom left for the front tire. Leave a small gap at the top.
Step 8: The back wheel
On the right, draw another thick circle about the same size as the first one. Leave a gap on its left side and keep its bottom level with the front wheel.
Step 9: Wheel hubs
Put a round dot in the middle of each wheel. Add a small blob at the top of the front wheel.
Step 10: Bike and face details
Connect the wheels with bars for the frame, and add a seat and a chunky pedal near the back wheel. Then add a dot for the eye, a curly ear, a short stripe and a tiny dot on the helmet, and a curved line for the shorts.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid riding a BMX bike
- Draw the two wheels about the same size and keep their bottoms on the same line, so the bike does not look tilted.
- The arm is the trickiest part. Think of it as a bent noodle that goes from the shoulder down to the hand, and draw it in one slow line.
- Draw the frame last with slow, steady lines that join the two wheel dots, the seat and the pedal.
