How to draw a comic book step by step

How to Draw a Comic Book · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The book cover

Draw a tall rectangle that leans a little to one side, like a book standing up. Leave a small gap in the top right corner, and make the edges gently curved with rounded corners.

  3. Step 3: The speech bubble

Draw a big oval in the top right that closes the gap in the corner of the book. Add a little pointy tail at the bottom of the oval that points down toward the cover.

  4. Step 4: The two eyes

Near the middle of the cover, draw two round dots for eyes at the same height. Fill them in so they are nice and dark.

  5. Step 5: The tiny smile

Between the eyes, draw a small wiggly line like a little wave. It makes your comic book look happy.

  6. Step 6: The spine lines

Near the left side of the cover, draw one long curved line. Under it, add a short curved line with a small gap between them.

  7. Step 7: The POW letters

At the top left of the cover, draw a big P, then an O, then the start of a W, with round bubbly shapes. Draw the letters close together and add a few small spiky points around them.

  8. Step 8: End of the W

At the right end of the W, draw a small wiggly line that finishes the last stroke of the letter. Your POW is now done.

  9. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a comic book

  • Draw the book as a lightly tilted rectangle first, and leave a gap in the top right corner where the speech bubble will go.
  • The POW letters are the trickiest part. Draw each letter as a fat, round shape, let them touch, and add small spiky points around them.
  • Place the two eyes at the same height and leave a little space between them for the smile, so the face looks cute and balanced.
