Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The head
Draw a big rounded oval for the head, a little squished on the left to make a soft nose. Leave a small gap on the right side where the neck will join.
Step 3: The eye and neck
Make a small dot for the eye near the nose. Then draw a curved line down the back of the head, and let it sweep out to the right in a long, gentle line for the neck and back.
Step 4: The chest and tummy
Start under the chin and curve the line down and around for the chest. Then draw a long, slightly curved line along the belly and up around the round bottom. Add a small circle near the back for the hip.
Step 5: The big ears
Draw two tall ear shapes like pointy leaves, standing up from the top of the head. Make the ear on the left a little smaller than the one on the right.
Step 6: The front legs
Draw two long, skinny rectangles hanging down from the belly, near the front of the body. Give each one a flat bottom for a hoof.
Step 7: The back legs
Add two more tall rectangles hanging down from the back of the body, just like the front legs. Make them the same length so your fawn stands up straight.
Step 8: The little tail
At the very back of the body, draw a small pointed leaf shape sticking out. It looks like a little flag waving behind your fawn.
Step 9: The spots
Draw five small rings on the fawn's side, near the hip circle. Spots do not have to match, so scatter them any way you like.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a fawn
- Draw the two ears as long leaf shapes that stand up from the top of the head. Make the left ear a bit smaller than the right one.
- The four legs are the trickiest part. Draw them all about the same length, and keep a small gap between each pair so they do not blend together.
- Draw the spots as small rings and place them unevenly. Real fawn spots are scattered, and wobbly rings look natural.

How to color your fawn drawing
Color the fawn warm brown or golden tan, leave the spots white or cream, and add a little pink inside the ears. For a creative twist, give your fawn rainbow spots or put it in a snowy winter scene.
Fawn fun fact for kids
Baby deer are born with white spots on their coats. The spots help a fawn blend in with patches of sun and shade on the forest floor, so it is hard for other animals to see it.
Questions about drawing a fawn
What shapes do I need to draw a fawn?
You need a rounded oval for the head, a long curvy line for the neck and back, rectangles for the legs, and two pointy leaf shapes for the ears. Small rings make the spots.
How do I make my fawn look cuter?
Keep the head large compared to the body and add a small dot for the eye. Long skinny legs and tall ears also make a fawn look sweet.
How do I draw the fawn's spots?
Draw small rings in a loose group on the side of the body. Do not line them up, because a scattered pattern looks more like a real fawn.
