How to Draw a Sea Serpent · tinyhandscreate.com
Step 1: Head and long neck
Draw a big circle for the head, leaving a small gap on the right. Add two little pointed bumps on top, then draw a tall neck below the head: two long lines going down, joined by a gentle curve at the bottom.
Step 2: The snout
On the right side of the head, fill the gap with a rounded, bumpy shape like a bean that sticks out. Add a short curved line underneath it for a smiling mouth.
Step 3: Two pointy ears
On the left side of the head, draw two small leaf shapes. Put one near the top left and one a little lower, pointing out to the left.
Step 4: The eye
Draw one round dot in the middle of the head, a little above the mouth. Color it in nice and dark.
Step 5: Two body humps
To the left of the neck, draw two upside-down U shapes side by side. They are the serpent's back poking out of the water.
Step 6: The tail fin
At the far left, draw a tail that looks like a fish tail: two pointed leaf shapes side by side at the top, narrowing down below. Finish with a short flat line across the bottom.
Step 7: The water line
Draw a long wavy line along the bottom of the tail, the humps, and the neck, and keep going a little to the right of the neck. It should look like gentle hills going up and down.
Step 8: Waves below
Draw two more wavy lines under the serpent. Make the top one long and the bottom one shorter and a little to the right.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a sea serpent
- Draw the neck with two long lines that stay about the same distance apart, then close the bottom with a gentle curve.
- Leave a small gap on the right side of the head circle before you add the snout, so the two shapes join smoothly.
- For the humps, start at the water line and draw up and over, then back down. Try to keep both humps about the same size.

Sea serpent fun fact for kids
The oldest known story of a monster in Loch Ness, a lake in Scotland, comes from about the year 565, in a tale about a saint named Columba. Nobody has ever proven a monster lives there, which makes it a fun thing to imagine and draw.
Questions about drawing a sea serpent
What shapes do I need to draw a sea serpent?
You need a circle for the head, leaf shapes for the ears and tail fin, upside-down U shapes for the humps, and wavy lines for the water.
How do I make my sea serpent look cuter?
Make the eye a big, round dot and keep the mouth a small curve so it looks like a smile. A rounder snout also helps.
