How to draw a marine biologist step by step

How to Draw a Marine Biologist · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The round head

Draw a big circle for the head, a little wider than tall. Leave a small gap at the top where the hat will go.

  3. Step 3: Hat and goggles

Draw a flat band across the gap at the top of the head. On the band, draw a wide rounded rectangle with two small circles side by side inside it for the goggles.

  4. Step 4: Happy face

Add two small dots for eyes in the middle of the face. Under them, draw a little curved smile like a bowl.

  5. Step 5: Lab coat and arm

Under the head, draw a tall rectangle for the coat and a straight line down the middle. On the right side, add a bent arm that ends in a small circle for the hand.

  6. Step 6: The clipboard

On the left side of the coat, draw a rectangle for the clipboard. Add a small bump on top of it for the clip.

  7. Step 7: Clipboard, legs and shoes

Draw two short lines on the clipboard for writing and a small circle below them. Then draw two short lines down from the coat for legs, with a flat oval at the bottom of each one for the shoes.

  8. Step 8: The dolphin

Next to the scientist, start at a pointy nose and draw the head curving up and over the back. Bring the line down in a long curve to a point at the bottom, and add a triangle fin on top and a small flipper under the chin.

  9. Step 9: Eye, smile and back line

Add a dot for the dolphin's eye and a short curved line for its smile. Then draw a short line across the back, just below the fin.

  10. Step 10: Tail flukes

At the bottom point of the dolphin, draw a small bowl shape for the tail. Add a short line trailing out to the right.

  11. Step 11: Wavy water

Draw one long wiggly line across the bottom, starting near the scientist's shoes and ending past the dolphin's tail, to make the waves.

  12. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a marine biologist

  • Draw the head circle lightly first, then add the hat band across the top so it sits snugly.
  • The dolphin is the trickiest part. Start at the pointy nose and let the back curve up and over in one smooth line.
  • Keep the clipboard and the coat as simple rectangles. Add the writing lines last so they stay straight.

How to color your marine biologist drawing

Try a white coat, a yellow hat and goggles, and a gray-blue dolphin with a light belly. For a creative twist, color the water in stripes of blue and green and add a few fish.

Marine biologist fun fact for kids

Dolphins are mammals, not fish. They breathe air through a blowhole on top of their heads and have to come up to the surface to take a breath.
