How to Draw a Kid in a Princess Costume (Easy Step by Step)
This little princess is fun to draw because she is built almost entirely from circles, ovals and curvy lines. A big round head, puffy sleeves, a scalloped skirt and a star wand come together into a cute dress-up character. A bucket in one hand makes her look like she is ready for a costume party.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The big round head
Draw a big rounded oval for the head, a little wider at the top and curving in toward the chin. Close the shape all the way around.
Step 3: The hairline
Inside the top of the head, draw one curved line from the left side to the right side. It dips a little in the middle and shows where the hair begins.
Step 4: Crown and topknot
On top of the head, draw a small crown with a flat bottom and zigzag points, and a tiny dot in the middle. Then add a small circle on top like a hair bun.
Step 5: Face, dress top and arms
Add two round dots for eyes and a happy curved smile. Under the head, draw a small rectangle for the dress top with a line down the middle and a curved line at the waist. Add a round puffy sleeve on each side and a bent arm coming out of each one.
Step 6: The princess skirt
Draw a long curved line from the waist sweeping out to the right and ending in a point. Add a wavy scalloped line along the bottom, and a short curve on the left to finish the skirt.
Step 7: The little bucket
On the left, draw a bucket that is wider at the top than the bottom. Add a curved handle on top, then two stripes across the middle.
Step 8: The hand
At the end of the right arm, draw a small loop for the hand. It is just a little curl, so keep it small.
Step 9: Magic star wand
Draw a long thin stick going up from the hand. At the top, draw a small five-pointed star.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid in a princess costume
- Draw the big head oval first and keep it nice and round. Everything else sits around it, so it is worth taking your time.
- The crown is the trickiest part. Start with a flat-bottomed box, then add small zigzag points along the top, rather than trying to draw all the points in one wiggly line.
- Draw the wavy hem of the skirt as a row of small, even bumps, like gentle waves. Count three or four bumps before you start so they fit across the bottom.
