How to draw a puppy in a teacup step by step

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The round head

Draw a big circle near the top middle of your page. This is the puppy's head, so make it nice and round.

  3. Step 3: The floppy ears

Draw a rounded ear shape on each side of the head. Start at the top of the head, curve out and down, then bring the line back to touch the side of the head.

  4. Step 4: The teacup

Below the head, draw a wide, gently curved line for the rim of the cup. Then draw a big bowl shape hanging from both ends of the rim, curving down like a smile.

  5. Step 5: The saucer

At the bottom of the cup, draw a long, flat shape like a boat. Make it wider than the cup so the cup sits right on top.

  6. Step 6: The little paws

Draw two small half circles on the rim of the cup, one on each side under the head. They look like tiny paws holding on.

  7. Step 7: The cup handle

On the right side of the cup, draw a curved line like a backward letter C. Start near the rim and curve out and back in toward the bottom of the cup.

  8. Step 8: Eyes and smile

Draw two small dots for eyes in the middle of the face. Below them, draw a short line going down that splits into a happy curved smile.

  9. Step 9: Heart and steam

Draw a small heart in the middle of the cup. Then draw a tall wavy line on the left side of your page, like warm steam floating up.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a puppy in a teacup

  • Draw the head circle first and leave lots of space below it, so the teacup has room to sit underneath.
  • Start each ear at the top of the head and curve out and down, like a soft leaf hanging on each side.
  • Draw the cup rim with one smooth, gently curved line. Then add the small paws right on top of it so the puppy looks like it is holding on.
  • Make the saucer wider than the cup so the cup has a steady place to sit.

Questions about drawing a puppy in a teacup

What shapes do I need to draw a puppy in a teacup?

You need one big circle for the head, two rounded shapes for the ears, and a wide bowl shape for the cup. Small half circles make the paws, and a flat boat shape makes the saucer.

How do I make my puppy look cuter?

Keep the eyes as small dots, and keep the smile small and curved. Big floppy ears also add a lot of cuteness.

How do I make the puppy look like it is inside the cup?

Place the head just above the rim and put the little paws right on the rim. That way the puppy seems to be sitting in the cup with only its head and paws showing.
