How to draw a scuba diver step by step

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The big round head

Draw a big wide oval near the top of the page for the head. Stop the line at the bottom on each side so there is a gap where the body will go.

  3. Step 3: The body

Under the head, draw the body with a line down from each side of the gap and a flat curved line across the bottom. It is a rounded rectangle that is narrower than the head.

  4. Step 4: Stripes on the shirt

Draw three gently curved lines across the body from one side to the other. They make the stripy shirt.

  5. Step 5: Arms and hands

On each side of the body, draw a bent curve for an arm, starting at the shoulder. Finish each arm with a small cuff line and a little loop for a hand. Add two tiny short lines under the body where the legs will start.

  6. Step 6: Big flippers

At the bottom, draw two wide dome shapes that look like flippers. Let them touch in the middle, right under the two tiny lines.

  7. Step 7: The diving mask

Across the head, draw a long rounded rectangle for the mask. Add a wavy line below it that goes down, up and down again, like a smooth hill between two valleys.

  8. Step 8: Eyes and smile

Inside the mask, draw two small dots for eyes. Under the mask, draw a little curved smile.

  9. Step 9: The air tank

On the right side of the body, draw a tall rounded rectangle for the air tank. Connect it to the body with one short line near the shoulder.

  10. Step 10: The snorkel

Start at the left side of the mask and draw a long curve that goes up, like the stem of a candy cane. Bend the top over into a tiny hook.

  11. Step 11: Bubbles and a fish

On the left, draw three small circles stacked above each other, each a different size. Below them, draw a sideways oval fish with a dot for an eye and a little triangle for a tail.

  12. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a scuba diver

  • Draw the head oval big and a little wider than it is tall. Leave a gap at the bottom so the body can join it.
  • Draw the mask as a long rounded rectangle first, then add the wavy line below it. Go slowly, and make the wave look like a gentle hill.
  • For the flippers, draw two wide dome shapes at the bottom and let them touch in the middle so they look like a matching pair.
