How to draw a toaster step by step

How to Draw a Toaster · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: The toaster body

Draw a big rounded rectangle, wider than it is tall, with softly curved corners. This is the main box of your toaster, so leave room above it for the toast.

  2. Step 2: Two slices of toast

On the top edge of the body, draw two toast slices. For each one, draw two short straight lines going up, then close them with a wide bumpy cloud shape on top, like a mushroom cap. Make the left slice a little taller than the right one.

  3. Step 3: Two little feet

Under the bottom edge, near each corner, draw a tiny U shape hanging down. These little feet help your toaster sit nicely.

  4. Step 4: The lever

On the left side of the body, draw a small circle. Then draw a short straight line going down from the bottom of the circle, like a lollipop stick.

  5. Step 5: The dial

Near the bottom right corner of the body, draw a small circle for the dial. Draw a smaller circle inside it to make a ring.

  6. Step 6: A happy face

In the middle of the body, draw two little dots for eyes. Between them and a bit lower, draw a small curved smile like a bowl.

  7. Step 7: Pop-up lines

Above the toast, draw three short lines that fan out a little like sunshine rays. They show your toast is ready to pop up.

  8. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a toaster

  • Start with the body and make the corners round, not sharp. Draw slowly and let the lines curve gently at each corner.
  • The toast slices are the trickiest part. Draw the two straight sides first, then close them with a bumpy top, and think of a puffy cloud or a chef's hat.
  • Draw the face after the lever and dial, so you can see how much space is left and keep the eyes level and the smile centered. Add the little rays last.

Toaster fun fact for kids

The pop-up toaster was invented by Charles Strite, an American who applied for his patent in 1919. Before that, people toasted bread over a fire or on a toasting fork and had to turn it by hand.
