How to draw a worm step by step

How to Draw a Worm · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The apple

Draw a big round apple shape that is a little wider than it is tall. Add a small dip at the top and a tiny dip at the bottom so it looks like an apple.

  3. Step 3: Stem and leaf

Start at the dip in the top of the apple and draw a short curved stem going up. At the top of the stem, draw a pointy leaf shaped like a lemon.

  4. Step 4: The worm's right side

Start next to the stem at the top of the apple. Draw a wavy line that curves down and to the left, all the way to the bottom of the apple.

  5. Step 5: The worm's left side

Draw a second wavy line on the left, a little distance from the first one, to make the body. At the bottom, let it curl around into a loop like a little tail.

  6. Step 6: Face and stripes

Close the bottom of the head, then add two round dots for eyes and a little smile. Draw short slanted lines across the body to make stripes.

  7. Step 7: The leaf vein

Draw one short, slightly slanted line in the middle of the leaf.

  8. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a worm

  • Sketch the apple as a light circle first, then add the dips at the top and bottom once the shape feels right.
  • The wavy body is the trickiest part. Draw the right edge first, then draw the left edge beside it so the two lines stay about the same distance apart.
  • Make the stripes short lines that lean the same way, and stop them at the edges of the body so they do not poke out.

Earthworms breathe through their skin instead of using lungs. They also have no eyes, but they can sense light with special cells in their skin.
