Step 1: Head and body outline
Draw a big rounded dome for the head. Let the sides slope out and down like a gumdrop, with a small dip where the head meets the body. On the right, curl the line in at the bottom to start a flipper, and leave the rest of the bottom open.
Step 2: The muzzle
In the middle of the face, draw a puffy closed shape like a wide bean or a peanut, with a little dip at the top center.
Step 3: Two long tusks
Under the muzzle, draw two long skinny tusks that hang straight down. Start each one at the bottom edge of the muzzle and let the sides come together in a point.
Step 4: Little flippers
On the left side of the body, draw a rounded leaf shape that hangs down, starting where the body line ends. On the right side, add the inner line that closes the matching flipper against the body.
Step 5: Belly and feet
Draw a gentle curved line along the bottom to join the two flippers. Then add two small rounded feet that peek out underneath, like little half circles.
Step 6: Face details
Add two round dots for eyes, high on the face. Draw one small round dot for the nose between and below them. Finish with tiny whisker dots on each side of the muzzle.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a walrus
- Draw the head and body outline as one smooth shape first, and make the sides slope outward evenly so the walrus looks balanced.
- The two tusks are the trickiest part. Make them about the same length and start them right at the bottom of the muzzle so they hang straight down.
- Draw the flippers after the outline so you can see where they should start, and keep them small so they do not look bigger than the body.

Try warm brown or soft gray for the body, with cream tusks and a pink or darker brown muzzle. For a creative twist, color the background an icy blue and add a few snowflakes around your walrus.
Walrus fun fact for kids
Walrus tusks are really long teeth. Walruses use them to help pull themselves up onto ice, a bit like using ice picks.
