Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The big ball
Draw a large circle in the middle of your page. This round ball is the globe, so take your time and make it as round as you can.
Step 3: The curved frame
Start just above the top of the ball and draw a long curved line that hugs the left side, leaving a small gap. Sweep it down and around until it ends below the ball, near the middle of the bottom.
Step 4: The base
Near the bottom of the page, draw a wide dome shape like half of a squashed circle. Close it with a straight line across the bottom so it sits flat like a little hill.
Step 5: Face and stand pole
Near the bottom of the ball, draw two tiny dots for eyes with a small curved smile between them. Then draw a short straight pole from the bottom of the ball down to the top of the base.
Step 6: Top knob
Draw a small circle just above the top of the ball, where the frame begins. Add a tiny straight line from the bottom of the circle down to the top of the ball.
Step 7: The big land shapes
Inside the ball, draw two lumpy shapes that look like teardrops or leaves. Put one on the left and one on the right, each a little wider at the top and narrower at the bottom.
Step 8: The small island
Near the top right of the ball, above the right land shape, draw a small flat oval. It is an island floating in the ocean.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a globe
- Draw the big circle first and lightly, then go over it. Everything else is placed around it, so a round ball makes the rest easier.
- The curved frame is the trickiest part. Keep it close to the ball and the same distance away all the way around, like a second circle that is only half finished.
- Make the land shapes lumpy and uneven, like leaves. Leave space between them and the edge of the ball so they do not touch the outline.

How to color your globe drawing
Color the ocean blue and the land shapes green, orange, or brown, with a gray or gold frame. For a creative twist, draw your own made-up island and give it a name.
Globe fun fact for kids
Earth is covered mostly by water. About 71 percent of the planet's surface is ocean, which is why globes have so much blue.
Questions about drawing a globe
What shapes do I need to draw a globe?
You need a big circle for the ball, a curved line for the frame, a small circle for the top knob, and a flat dome for the base. The land is just a few leaf-like shapes and a small oval.
How do I draw the globe's face?
Near the bottom of the ball, make two tiny dots for eyes and a little curved smile between them. Keep them small so there is still room for the land shapes above.
How do I draw a round circle by hand?
Move your whole arm, not just your fingers, and draw the circle in one slow motion. If it comes out wobbly, try again lightly and trace over the best one.
