Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The big round head
Draw a large wide oval for the head, a little wider than it is tall. Leave room above it for antennae and below it for the body.
Step 3: The little body
Under the middle of the head, draw two short lines going down that curve out a bit. Join them at the bottom with a gentle curve to make a small, rounded body.
Step 4: Waving arms
Start at each side of the body and draw a long curved arm sweeping out and up. End each arm with a wavy hand that has little bumps for fingers.
Step 5: Big oval eyes
Draw two tall ovals inside the head, side by side, with a gap between them. Make them big so your alien looks curious.
Step 6: Pupils and smile
Draw a small filled-in dot inside each eye for the pupils. Then draw a small curved smile between the eyes, low on the face.
Step 7: Bouncy antennae
Draw two short curved lines that start on top of the head and bend outward. Finish each one with a small circle at the tip, like a little ball.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing an alien
- Draw the head oval first and keep it big. The eyes, smile and antennae all fit around it, so a roomy head makes everything easier.
- The hands are the trickiest part. Think of each hand as a small cloud with a few bumps on top, and take it slowly, one bump at a time.
- Draw the two eyes at the same height, with the same gap on each side of the middle. Lightly mark the center of the head first if it helps.

How to color your alien drawing
Try bright green or purple skin with white eyes and black pupils, and give the antenna balls a glowing yellow or pink. For a creative twist, draw the planet your alien lives on, with stars and a spaceship in the background.
Alien fun fact for kids
The word "alien" comes from the Latin word "alienus," which means "belonging to someone or somewhere else." You can invent your own alien and decide what planet it comes from.
