How to Draw a Milkshake (Easy Step by Step)
A milkshake is a happy thing to draw because it stacks simple shapes: a cup, a fluffy cloud of cream, a small circle for a cherry, and a long thin straw. Once the cup is down, the rest is bumps, curves and a tiny face. It works well for beginners because every part is easy to build.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The cup
Start with the big cup. Draw two slanted lines that get closer together as they go down, then join them at the bottom with a flat line and softly rounded corners.
Step 3: The cup rim
Draw a straight line across the top of the cup, joining the two slanted sides. This is the top edge of the cup.
Step 4: Whipped cream
On top of the rim, draw a fluffy cloud shape with a bumpy top. Make the two side bumps stick out a little past the cup, and close it up on the rim line.
Step 5: The cherry
Draw a small circle sitting on the middle of the cream. Add a curved stem that starts at the top of the cherry and swoops to the right.
Step 6: The straw
Draw a long thin tilted rectangle poking out of the cream on the left. Start at the top with a short slanted end and draw two long lines down into the cream.
Step 7: Straw stripes
Draw two short slanted lines across the straw, evenly spaced, to make stripes.
Step 8: A sweet face
Draw two small round dots for eyes in the upper middle of the cup. Then add a little curved smile between and below them, like a tiny bowl.
Step 9: Shiny highlight
Near the left side of the cup, draw one long, slightly slanted line. It makes the cup look shiny.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a milkshake
- Draw the cup sides so they lean in toward the bottom. If both lines are straight up and down, the cup looks like a can.
- For the whipped cream, make a row of bumps like a cloud instead of one wavy line. Let the two bumps at the ends stick out past the cup.
- Draw the straw as two long lines first, then add the stripes. Let the straw end behind the cream so it looks like it goes down into the drink.

How to color your milkshake drawing
Pick a pink strawberry shake, a brown chocolate shake or a minty green one, and color the cherry bright red. For a creative twist, color the straw stripes in two bright colors.
Milkshake fun fact for kids
The word milkshake first meant a drink with whiskey in it, back in the 1880s. By the 1920s it had changed to the cold, sweet, creamy drink we know now, often made with ice cream.
