How to Draw a Car (Easy Step by Step)
A car is a great first vehicle to draw because it is made from simple shapes you already know. You will use circles for the wheels and the headlight, boxes for the windows, and a few straight lines for the door and bumper. Put them together and you have a cute little car ready to roll.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Car body outline
Start with a rounded roof at the top. From each side of the roof, slope down to a low hood on the left and a low trunk on the right. Curve each end down and around, and stop with a short line pointing inward at the bottom, leaving the middle of the bottom open.
Step 3: The wheels
Draw two big circles low on the car, one near the left end and one near the right end. The top of each circle tucks up into the body and the bottom hangs below it.
Step 4: The hubcaps
Draw a small circle in the middle of each wheel to make the hubcap.
Step 5: The bottom line
Draw one straight line along the bottom of the car, connecting the two wheels.
Step 6: The windows
Draw two windows under the roof, side by side with a small gap between them. Make each one a box with one slanted side, so the slants point outward.
Step 7: The door line
Draw a tall straight line going down from the gap between the windows. Then add a tiny dot just to the left of it for the door handle.
Step 8: The headlight
On the left end of the car, above the wheel, draw a small circle for the headlight.
Step 9: The bumper
At the bottom left corner, draw a short straight line sticking out to the left to make the front bumper.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a car
- Draw the two wheels the same size. If one looks too small, trace around a coin or a bottle cap to practice.
- Make the roof tall and rounded, then let the hood and trunk sit lower on each side. That shape is what makes it look like a car and not a box.
- Leave a small gap between the two windows. The door line goes straight down from that gap, so the car looks neat.

How to color your car drawing
Try a bright red or sunny yellow body with light blue windows and gray wheels. For a creative twist, give your car polka dots or racing stripes, or draw a road and a sunny sky behind it.
Car fun fact for kids
Many early cars did not have a steering wheel. They were steered with a lever called a tiller, a bit like the handle on a small boat.
