How to draw Harry Potter step by step

How to Draw Harry Potter · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The hair outline

Start at the left side of the head and draw a big curved line up and over the top, with two little spikes poking up in the middle. Let it curve down the right side and stop partway, leaving the bottom of the head open.

  3. Step 3: The ears and chin

Draw a small round ear bump on each side of the head. Then draw a smooth curve across the bottom to make the cheeks and chin, joining the two ears.

  4. Step 4: Glasses and a fringe curve

Draw two round circles side by side in the middle of the face for the glasses. Then draw a wavy line that starts above the left circle and swoops over to the right circle.

  5. Step 5: The eyes

Draw a big round dot inside each glasses circle for the eyes.

  6. Step 6: Bangs and scar

Draw a few pointy hair tufts on the forehead, coming down toward the left glasses circle. Then add a tiny teardrop-shaped scar on the upper right of the forehead.

  7. Step 7: Mouth, collar and arms

Draw a short line between the glasses for the nose bridge and a tiny curved mouth below. Add a curly tuft by the right glasses, then a small collar with a square clasp under the chin. Finish with a round fist on the left and a sleeve on each side.

  8. Step 8: The robe front

Under the clasp, draw two long lines that go down and flare out, making the two front flaps of the robe. Close the bottom of each flap, and add a short straight line across the middle between them.

  9. Step 9: The magic wand

Draw a long thin stick slanting up and to the left from the fist, with a small triangle at the tip. Add a short curved line below the fist for the end of the sleeve.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Harry Potter

  • Draw the two glasses circles about the same size. Try tracing around a coin or a bottle cap so they match.
  • The messy bangs are the trickiest part. Make three or four short pointy zigzags instead of one long line.
  • Draw the wand at a slant and keep it thin. Start at the fist, pull a straight line up, then finish with the little triangle tip.
