How to draw a baboon step by step

How to Draw a Baboon · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: Head and left ear

Draw a big round head near the top of the page, leaving the bottom open for now. On the left side, add a small half circle bump for the ear.

  3. Step 3: Right ear

Add a small half circle bump on the right side of the head, matching the left ear.

  4. Step 4: Chin and body sides

Draw a curve across the bottom of the head for the chin. From each end of the curve, draw a line that sweeps down and out to make the sides of the body.

  5. Step 5: Feet

At the bottom of the body, draw a wavy line with two rounded feet and a little dip between them. Connect each end to the sides of the body.

  6. Step 6: Little hands

On each side of the body, draw a short curved hook that points inward. These make the hands tucked at the baboon's sides.

  7. Step 7: A curved tail

Start at the baboon's lower left side and draw a long, gentle curve that sweeps down and out, then up, like a skinny letter J.

  8. Step 8: The muzzle

In the middle of the face, draw a rounded oval for the muzzle with a small bump at the top. Let the bottom of the oval touch the chin line.

  9. Step 9: Two round eyes

Draw two solid dots above the muzzle, one on each side. Keep them the same size and at the same height.

  10. Step 10: Nose and smile

Add two tiny curved nostrils inside the bump at the top of the muzzle. Then draw a happy curve, like a smile, in the middle of the muzzle.

  11. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a baboon

  • Draw the head first and keep your lines light, since the ears, muzzle, and body all connect to it.
  • The muzzle is the trickiest part. Start with an oval and let its bottom edge touch the chin line.
  • Make the two eyes the same size by drawing one, then placing the other at the same height across the face.
