How to Draw an Almond (Easy Step by Step)
An almond is a fun first drawing because it is built from just one raindrop shape with a pointy top and a round bottom. Three short curved lines near the top and a tiny smiling face turn it into a friendly little character. If you can draw a curve and two dots, you can draw this nut.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The almond outline
Start at the top with a small pointy tip. Draw one curved line down the left side, round the bottom, and back up the right side to meet the tip. It looks like a big raindrop.
Step 3: The middle line
Inside the almond, just under the tip, draw a short, slightly curved line going down. Leave a little gap so it does not touch the outline.
Step 4: The left curve
On the left side near the top, draw a short curved line that follows the outline. Keep it inside the almond with a small gap from the edge.
Step 5: The right curve
On the right side near the top, draw a matching short curved line that follows the outline. Make it bend the same way as the left one so the almond looks balanced.
Step 6: The happy face
Lower down, draw two round dots for eyes with space between them. Then add a small smile that curves up under the eyes, like a little bowl.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing an almond
- Draw the outline lightly first. The pointy tip is the trickiest part, so aim both sides at the same spot at the top.
- Keep the three lines near the top short and curved, and leave small gaps from the outline so they look like the ridges on a real almond.
- Space the two eyes evenly on each side of the middle, then center the smile between and below them.

How to color your almond drawing
Color the almond in warm browns and tans, with a lighter tan for the inside of the shape. For a creative twist, give your almond a cozy scarf or put it in a bowl with its nut friends.
Almond fun fact for kids
Almonds grow inside a fuzzy green shell on trees, and the part we eat is really a seed. Almond trees have pretty white and pink flowers in early spring.
