How to Draw a Fiddle Leaf Fig Plant (Easy Step by Step)
A fiddle leaf fig is a fun plant to draw because it is mostly big, friendly leaf shapes growing out of a simple pot. You only need lemon shapes, curved lines, and a pot made from a rim and a tapered body. Once you can draw one leaf, the rest of the plant follows the same idea.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Tall center leaf
Near the top of your paper, draw a tall lemon shape with a pointed tip at the top and a pointed tip at the bottom. Make the two sides curve out like a stretched egg.
Step 3: Upper side leaves
On each side of the tall leaf, draw a curved line that starts at its edge, sweeps out to the side, and curves down to a point. These open curves are the tops of two leaves tucked behind the center leaf.
Step 4: Lower side leaves
Under the upper leaves, draw two pointy lemon-shaped leaves, one on the left and one on the right. Each one points away from the plant and ends near the bottom of the tall leaf.
Step 5: The flower pot
Below the leaves, draw a wide, flat rectangle with rounded corners for the rim. Under it, draw a pot shape that gets narrower toward the bottom, with a gently curved base.
Step 6: Stems
Draw one long line down the middle of the tall leaf and keep going into the pot. Then add two short curvy stems that start at the pot and lean up toward the side leaves.
Step 7: Leaf veins
Inside each of the four side leaves, draw one long curved line. Start near the middle of the plant and sweep it toward the outer tip of the leaf.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a fiddle leaf fig plant
- Draw the tall center leaf first and give it plenty of room. The upper side leaves tuck behind it, so start their lines where they touch its edge.
- The pot is wider at the top than at the bottom. Draw the rim first, then make the two side lines lean slightly toward each other as they go down.
- For the leaf veins, draw one smooth curve in a single motion instead of tiny short lines. Start near the middle of the plant and let your hand sweep toward the leaf tip.

Fiddle leaf fig plant fun fact for kids
Fiddle leaf figs get their name because their big leaves can look like the body of a fiddle, which is another word for a violin. In the wild they grow into tall trees in the rainforests of western Africa.
Questions about drawing a fiddle leaf fig plant
What shapes do I need to draw a fiddle leaf fig?
You need a lemon or egg shape for each leaf, a few curved lines for stems and veins, and a rounded rectangle rim with a tapered body for the pot.
How do I make my plant leaves look natural?
Make each leaf a slightly different size and tilt it in a different direction. A little bit of overlap between leaves also makes the plant look full and real.
Can I draw a fiddle leaf fig without a ruler?
Yes, and it often looks better that way. Wobbly, hand-drawn lines give the leaves and pot a friendly, relaxed look.
