Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head and ears
Start with a big rounded dome for the top of the head. Let the line swoop down on each side into long, floppy ears, then draw a gentle curve across the bottom for the cheeks and chin. Add a short line inside each ear where it hangs down from the head.
Step 3: The body
Draw a tall body below the head. On the left, start under the chin and draw a long line down for the chest and front. On the right, draw one long slanting line from the ear down and curve it in at the bottom for the round bottom.
Step 4: The front legs
Draw two short lines side by side in the lower middle of the body for the front legs. Give the left line a little bend at the top, and keep the right one nearly straight.
Step 5: Back leg and tail
Draw a round loop low on the right side for the back leg, touching the body line. Then add a small curl sticking out on the right side for the tail.
Step 6: The paws
Draw a wavy line along the ground that makes a rounded bump at the bottom of each leg for the paws. Add a tiny curl on the left paw and a short line near the back foot.
Step 7: The eyes
Fill in two round dots for the eyes, side by side in the middle of the face. Keep them the same size so your pup looks sweet.
Step 8: Nose and mouth
Draw a small rounded triangle for the nose, between the eyes and a little lower. Then draw a tiny upside-down V just under the nose for the mouth.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a bloodhound
- Draw the head dome first and leave room on both sides, so the ears have space to hang down without squeezing the face.
- Make the two ear lines inside the head about the same length. If they match, the face looks balanced and calm.
- For the paws, keep the bottom line low and a little wavy. Draw the tiny curl and short line last, so you can fix them if they are crooked.

Bloodhound fun fact for kids
The name bloodhound has nothing to do with blood. It comes from the old phrase "blooded hound," which meant a hound of pure, carefully kept breeding.
Questions about drawing a bloodhound
What shapes do I need to draw a bloodhound?
You need a big dome for the head, two long floppy ears, a tall shape for the body, and a few curved lines for the legs and back leg. A small triangle makes the nose and two dots make the eyes.
How do I make my bloodhound look cuter?
Make the ears extra long and round, and place the eyes a bit far apart. A tiny upside-down V for the mouth gives it that sweet, droopy look.
Is a bloodhound easy to draw for a beginner?
Yes, this version uses simple curves and no tiny details. Take it one step at a time and start with the head and ears so everything lines up.
