Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The round head
Start at the lower right of where the head will be and draw a big curved line up over the top and down the left side, like most of a circle. Stop near the bottom and leave a small gap on the lower right.
Step 3: The cap
Draw a straight line across the head, a little below the top, for the edge of the cap. Under it draw a curved smile-shaped brim, and add a tiny circle on the very top of the cap.
Step 4: The body
Under the head, draw a rounded box with no top line: two sides going down and a flat bottom with soft corners. Make it a bit narrower than the head.
Step 5: The collar
At the top of the body, just under the chin, draw two small flaps, one on the left and one on the right, for the collar.
Step 6: The raised arm
On the right side, draw a long tilted oval for the arm, starting at the shoulder and reaching up and out. At the top of the arm, add a small curl, like a hook, for the hand.
Step 7: The clipboard
On the left side, draw a tall rectangle with rounded corners. Add a small bump at the top for the clip.
Step 8: Two oval shoes
Under the body, draw two flat ovals side by side so they touch in the middle. These are the coach's shoes.
Step 9: Face and small details
Add two dots for eyes and a little curved smile. Then draw a V-shaped cord from the collar with a small ring at the bottom for the whistle, three short lines and a clip on the clipboard, a bent arm from the body to the clipboard, a thumb on the raised hand, and two short legs above the shoes.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a sports coach
- Draw the head lightly and leave the small gap, so the cap line can cross it in the right place.
- The raised arm is the trickiest part. Sketch a long tilted oval first, then add the small curl at the top.
- Draw the clipboard tall and narrow, and add the three lines last so they stay straight and even.
