How to draw a party popper step by step

How to Draw a Party Popper · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Two cone sides

Start at the pointy bottom-left tip. Draw one long, gently curved line going up to the top, then a second curved line from the same tip going out to the right. It looks like a wide, tilted letter V.

  2. Step 2: Top edge of cone

Draw a curved line from the top of the left side down to the end of the right side. This closes the top of the cone and makes a party hat shape.

  3. Step 3: Stripes on the cone

Draw two curved stripes across the cone, bending the same way as the top edge. Make the first one long and the second one short and close to the tip.

  4. Step 4: Curly streamers

Draw three wavy lines that start at the opening and shoot up and out like ribbons, each with a little curl at the end. Then draw a curved line along the front of the opening, from the top edge down to the right corner, to finish the tilted oval.

  5. Step 5: Little diamonds

Draw three small diamonds with rounded corners floating around the party popper, one on the upper left, one on the upper right and one on the lower right. Put a tiny dot or diamond in the middle of each one.

  6. Step 6: Confetti bits

Finish with the confetti. Draw three small circles with a dot in the middle, and add two short dashes, one on the left and one on the right.

  7. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a party popper

  • Start with the two sides of the cone and make them curve just a little so the cone looks round instead of flat.
  • The oval opening is the trickiest part. Let it lean the same way as the cone, and let the cone edges meet its two ends.
  • Let the streamers wiggle slowly. Start each one at the opening and curl the end last, so the curl does not get squashed.

Party popper fun fact for kids

The word confetti comes from Italian. It was first used for small sweets, like sugar-coated almonds, that people threw at festivals long ago.
